Update Asher

Our little guy is almost completely out of danger now. The latest news from Mike is that all tubes and lines will be removed today. He is breathing on his own, heart and lungs are better and he is moving around more each day and letting them know in a loud manner when he objects to something they are doing. Thank you for your prayers. Our little miracle will someday thank you himself. Now I’m going to play the great grandma role to the hilt by insisting they bring that little sweetie for a visit as soon as they can safely take him out.

Wow! I just took the first deep breath I’ve had for over a week now. I think my first move will be to tell my grandson about his aunt and how much we have all been pulling for Asher. I do have another photo to put in here if I can remember how, but for right now I’m going to just sit here and breathe!

I think I’ll tell you about the birthday party we had on Sunday afternoon. I know I’ve talked about Jennifer before. Her b’day would have been Sunday if she had lived but instead it had always been a day of mourning for me. But this year I met a young man in this new place who was also born on October 9. He has — or I should say “had” never had a party and wasn’t looking forward to this year’s birthday either. So, some of us got together and had a pizza party for him. We ordered a cake with race cars on the top. I had to laugh when he asked how we knew he likes cars. Didn’t bother telling him it was because he talks about them at every meal. He was so sweet, didn’t know what to do first but then solved the problem by taking the cars off the cake and playing with them on the table. Did I mention that the birthday boy turned 62 on Sunday? He still has some of the little boy qualities in him and I’m loving the effects.

Just a short post today. I have some celebrating to do and my back already hurts from leaning over the sewing machine this morning. Later, and I haven’t forgotten the photo. Just putting it off until I can safely attempt the search and download.

This is the first photo with his eye open looking at grandpa! Sorry about the size. Not sure how to handle the editing on WP.

Say What?

I lost another day over the weekend. I’m not sure what happened to it or why it was lost, but it was probably just a case of forgetting how to read a calendar. When I woke up Sunday morning I was so upset because it was 9:30 and I had slept through something I had planned for several days to do. My solution was to fall asleep again.

While fumbling through the daylight streaming through my window I found what I was looking for as well as some things I had forgotten I ever lost. So I kicked back and took another nap.

The next awakening was when I caught the phone on its way out. It was probably trying to find refuge with the TV remote that has been missing since January. It’s been getting me back by hiding the batteries I know I have somewhere. New pack of 20. Or maybe more than that. Had lost count the last time I checked the packages. Just remember it was somewhere around the number of how many fingers and toes I have. One less? or one more?

Movin’ on. Put my trash outside the door for pickup. Took a few more stitches on the quilt I’m making for the soon to be born great-grandson. Opened the door to bring the container back in. Hmm, after 10:00 pm and hadn’t been picked up yet. Another calendar check. Oops! No mark on Saturday but Sunday had been marked off. Time for bed and a second chance at living Sunday over again.

A New Day (or Night) And A New Hope

101_5594And how thankful I am that my photos survived on this site!  I now have the distinction of having deleted yet another computer — almost.  During a recent update I tripped over the power cord, ripping it from the computer and destroying the update at the time when it was telling me to not turn off the computer.  Of course, since the driver being fixed was the one that was the battery driver, the computer immediately turned off and all of my information was gone to some unknown place in computer limbo.  I am now slowly trying to retrieve it from my tablets.  This will take some time, but fortunately, I have loads of that!

A dear friend who moved from the building several months ago has been visiting tonight and since he just left a few minutes ago I am extremely tired, so this is just a short note to let everyone know what happened, and that I am finally back.  More to follow after some long and much needed sleep.  Love to everyone!  A.
